PNP Chief Verzosa appreciates MOAP and Dolphin Island

Sinacaban - “A good place for family and tourists.”

This is the reaction of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Jesus Verzosa after discovering the beauty of Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP), Dolphin Island and Wildlife Sanctuary and some diving sites in this municipality, Jimenez and Panaon.

PNP Chief Verzosa arrived here last Tuesday through the invitation of Governor Loreto Leo Ocampos to come in Misamis Occidental and see for himself what the province can offer especially in scuba diving.

Being also a diving enthusiast according to him, he immediately accepted the offer of the governor besides he was also curious upon knowing that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had spent her first working day of this year in scuba diving at Dolphin Island together with Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith.

“Maganda ‘yung lugar, there are a lot of big fishes and we also enjoy playing with dolphins,” he shared his experienced at the island.

After enjoying at the island, Gov. Ocampos, Gen. Verzosa together with Civil Security Group Director CSupt Ireneo Bacolod, Western Mindanao Integrated Police Operation Director CSupt Jaime Milla, region 10 director CSupt Danilo Empedrad, region 9 director CSupt Angelo Sunglaw and Caraga region director CSupt Nelson Nario had started diving on the different diving sites.

“We found some caves and inlets. We enjoy playing with some fish and we saw stingray and some turtles,” he said.

He added that the place is not only good for family outing and tourist attraction but also for reflection and meditation where one can peace of mind.

“So I could recommend this to my fellow scuba divers especially in Luzon to visit this place, it’s a very nice place, very peaceful and you can have peace of mind,” he promised.

After diving around 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon, Verzosa and company went to the Provincial Police Headquarter in Oroquieta City to meet local police chiefs and deliver some inspiring words, thereafter they went to the Provincial Function to grace the graduation ceremony of 38 policemen from region 8, 9 and 10 who finished their trainings on explosive ordnance disposal course.

Verzosa appreciated the courage of the new graduates noting that they are risking their lives especially when disposing or defusing bombs.

Out of the 38 policemen who graduated only 2 from this province.
